Karṇa now prepares to join the fighting. Duryodhana appoints Droṇa to replace Bhīṣma as commander, and the battle resumes. On the thirteenth day, Abhimanyu is killed by a group of enemies against whom he has bravely fought single-handedly. The following day, Bhīma’s son Ghaṭotkaca is killed by Karṇa, using the Spear he had hoped to reserve for Arjuna. On the fifteenth day, the Pāṇḍavas secure the death of Droṇa by using a devious stratagem.
